Ministry News and Notes (Spring 2016)
Secretary of Religion Column (Spring 2016)
Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh! Each year in the late summer or early fall, the Ministry Newsletter team meets to plan the overarching theme for the next year’s quarterly newsletters, as well as the specific focus for each issue. In the science of Tantric Numerology, the year 2016, which equals 9, signifies the Subtle Body. Guru Teg Bahadur, our ninth Guru, manifested the subtle. His sacrifices changed the course of history. The Subtle Body is about calmness, subtlety and mastery, no matter what you face. 3HO Foundation International’s January 1, 2016 e-bulletin contains an article

#59 Spring 2016 Newsletter
Throughout 2016, we will be highlighting the concept of the Subtle Body (in alignment with the Subtle Mastery of Guru Teg Bahadur and the numerology of 2016). We invited Sikh Dharma Ministers to reflect on how we impact the world through our Subtle Bodies. Especially, how do we use the Subtle Body to support us in situations of challenge as we serve as teachers, leaders, and healers of the Aquarian Age? “The Subtle Body gives the opportunity to understand and master the subtlety of life. It can help you to understand what is going on around you.” — The Siri Singh Sahib (Summer

About the Sikh Dharma Ministry Newsletter
The Sikh Dharma Ministry Newsletter debuted in July 2001 as a vehicle for enhancing Minister communication and as a source of information about and for Sikh Dharma Ministers. Secretary of Religion SS Dr. Sat Kaur Khalsa noted in 2001 that “the success of this newsletter will depend on the contributions and participation of our Sikh Dharma Ministers.” So far, it has been a great success as it builds a legacy of articles on a wide range of topics. Our History and Mission
The concept of a Sikh ministry was first started by the Third Guru, Guru Amar Das ji, in the mid-1500s. In 1971, in acknowledgement of his extraordinary impact of spreading the universal message of Sikhism through sharing the Sikh teachings with the spiritual seekers in the West, the Akal Takhat bestowed on Harbhajan Singh the title of Siri Singh Sahib, whereupon he was given the responsibility to create a Sikh Dharma Ministry in the West. The Siri Singh Sahib saw it was our destiny to be Sikh Dharma Ministers. Each person has unique gifts that are needed to serve our sangats and communities. The Ministry is like a beautiful

Secretary of Religion Column (Fall 2014)
What a special Minister’s Gathering we had at Summer Solstice 2014! These gatherings were created to help build a sense of community among the Ministers, to offer tools for our Ministers and to support each other with our unique contributions. As Secretary of Religion, I am dedicated to supporting Ministers to help shape the future of our Ministry. It is my belief that Sikh Dharma Ministers, through their leadership, will manifest the future of our Sikh Dharma Ministry and thereby, Guru will manifest the future of the Dharma. Towards that vision and purpose, this gathering was the fifth in a series

Secretary of Religion Column (Summer 2014)
The definition of Ministering is expanding. That was the theme for our Minister presentation at the April 2014 meetings of the Khalsa Council. When you say Minister (which is what the Siri Singh Sahib named us), we who came from a Judeo-Christian background tend to think of a religious setting like Gurdwara. Yes, of course, our touchstone is the Guru; but how else do we minister? Thanks to so many of you who responded to our request for pictures and video, we have an expanded global view of our Ministry (see our Ministers in Action Video). Here are some examples: SS Guru Simran
