Ministering in Chile in This Time and Space

Ministering in Chile in This Time and Space

by SS Sat Sansar Singh Khalsa, Santiago, Chile
2024 (First Quarter)

What does the word ‘Minister’ mean to you?

Being a Minister is for me an identity that is shared with a lineage of women and men who through the ages have been an inspiration, through the testimony of their lives. To live the life of a Sikh includes actively supporting one’s community in this way of life. That identity manifests in many ways for me—in deep internal aspects and in actions in the sphere in which I participate. Externally it means for me to stand as a lighthouse, ever ready to support the Sadh Sangat in their daily life challenges. Internally it means for me to be aware of my own actions, and the response of the sphere around me to these actions. It means for me to observe, feel, think, and notice the connections, tendencies, and patterns that express the Ek Ong Kar.

SS Sat Sansar Singh Khalsa meets with Indian Ambassador Sri Subrata Bhattacharjee.

How are you ministering to others in your community, or around the world?

Locally, I help to organize our Gurdwara and support members of the Sadh Sangat in the development of the Sikh lifestyle. I also participate in the Chilean Association of Interreligious Dialogue, a consultative body of the Chilean government related to religious matters. In addition, I engage in public relations, representing Sikh Dharma Chile in governmental instances and initiatives as well as religious organizations and institutions in general, including the Chile-India Association, the Jewish Community of Chile, the Muslim Community of Chile, Government Ministries and offices, and others.

SS Sat Sansar Singh Khalsa attends a meeting of religious and community leaders with former President of Senate Yasna Provoste (in orange jacket at center of bottom row).

What is meaningful for you as a Minister in this time and space?

In this particular time and space, I draw inspiration for my Ministry from the teachings of the Siri Singh Sahib, and in daily conversations with the women and men of my community. The teachings of the Siri Singh Sahib provide me with a reference—a system in which to observe and feel my actions, my feelings, my emotions, and the responses of the environment. Among the teachings I try to go to what I call the basics, including models of human experience such as chakras, spiritual bodies, etc. and more extended models such as the Sutras of the Aquarian Age*. In this time and space, the sutras give us a guide to understanding existence and to give it an integrity and coherence that allows us to unify the experience.

*Recognize that the other person is you.

There is a way through every block.

When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off.

Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.

Vibrate the Cosmos.  The Cosmos shall clear the path.
