Minister News and Notes (Spring 2010)

Winter Solstice Minister Gathering Report

by SS Har Darshan Kaur, Chapel Hill, NC (2009 Solstice Gathering Facilitator)

About a dozen Ministers (and one new Khalsa) attended the 2009 Ministers’ Gathering this year at 3HO Winter Solstice. As most of you know, our Dharma is going through some big transitions and challenges at this time.

Our gathering was an opportunity to “check in” with one another by sharing our truth in the moment. This process was one that was utilized in the October Khalsa Council meetings.

Each person present had the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings with the person on their left, who then confirmed what they had heard. We simply moved around our circle in this manner. Everyone had the chance to both speak and listen, with no judgment.

Our goal was not to solve any issues or to convince one another of any particular view but to simply share with one another. It was an experience in which our love for one another as a family was very much present. Please join us for the Ministers’ Gathering at 3HO Summer Solstice 2010!

New Minister Takes Vows

Congratulations to new Sikh Dharma minister SS Shabad Kaur of Chicago who took her Minister vows before the Siri Guru Granth Sahib at 3HO Winter Solstice 2009. May God and Guru bless her in her service.

2010 Minister Renewal

Reminder: It is time to renew your ministership and credentials for Baisakhi Day 2010 to Baisakhi Day 2011. Exams and renewal letters were sent in January by the Office of the Secretary of Religion. It’s A Boy!

We introduce you to Gobind Singh, the beautiful new son of Nirinjan Kaur and Siri Amrit Singh. He is a beloved grandson and new member of the Khalsa! We pray that he may truly be the “lion who takes care of all,” and in so doing, serve the Khalsa.

Little Gobind Singh was born to Nirinjan Kaur and Siri Amrit Singh on January 31, 2010 at his family’s home in Eugene, OR. He arrived with only one powerful cry followed by many sweet peaceful noises into his father’s, mother’s and grandmother’s arms. The very healthy Gobind Singh weighed 7.5 lbs and was 19 3/4″ long.

Congratulations to Mata and Papa and Grandparents MSS Guru Raj Kaur and SS Hari Singh (Vancouver) and SS Deva Singh and SS Deva Kaur (Florida).
