by SS Gurubachan Kaur Khalsa, Albuquerque NM Spring 2010 As a Minister how do I recognize and deliver my natural gifts? My daughter always tells me, “Mata Ji, you were born to be a mother. It just comes so naturally for you and you have no insecurity about it.” The first time she told me this, it took me by surprise because I never really gave any thought to being a mother and assumed that every woman had an inborn maternal instinct. My daughter is right, God gave me this beautiful gift to be able to be a mother to

My Natural Gifts
by SS Siri Bhrosa Kaur Khalsa, Los Angeles CA Spring 2010 “As a Minister, how do you recognize, accept and deliver your natural gifts? How do you overcome your fears and insecurities?” My natural gifts are leadership, counseling, and healing. I am 67 years old. I was trained as a Registered Nurse and throughout my career, I have worked in hospitals and health clinics in the capacity of nurse, administrator, and counselor and have also been in private practice doing counseling. I was blessed to serve as the Siri Singh Sahib Ji’s private nurse and he gave me the unique

The Gift of Sahej
by SS Dr. Siri Atma Singh Khalsa, Espanola NM Spring 2010 In every situation, I ask myself: What is God’s responsibility? What is the other person’s responsibility? What is my responsibility? If I have defined these boundaries then I am clear about what I must deliver. To escape the trap of the mind’s fears and insecurities, I do yoga. I strengthen my Aura and Arc-line until I am not bothered with nonconstructive thoughts. I do not stop doing yoga until I reach this state. What is Sahej and how do you get there? Sahej is that state of mind when

Harimandir of the Heart
by SS Sangeet Kaur Khalsa, Phoenix AZ Spring 2010 Sitting in Guru’s beautiful golden-domed sanctuary atop the Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple in Amritsar India) this past October, listening to the beautiful chanting of the Akhand Path (scriptural reading) while watching peace spread over the faces of those who had come here with me from the States, it was natural to feel life so full of ease, so perfect. Transfixed by the tones, elevated by the spirit, who could even remember the hectic lives we had all left barely a couple of days before? In a place such as this, ease

The Journey to Sahej
SS Gurprasad Kaur, Los Angeles CA Spring 2010 We are all, each and every one of us on this path, making our journey, collectively and individually, to sahej pad, that place where we experience more and more our alignment and synchronization with Divine Will. I look around at my fellow travelers and feel a greater and greater sense of unity, connectedness, and harmony. We have been incubating in the sacred container of Sikh Dharma for years, which seem like lifetimes; heating and cooking in the teachings of the Siri Singh Sahib ji, which delivered us to the lotus feet of

Train the Positive Mind
by SS Shiv Charan Singh Khalsa, Portugal Spring 2010 2010 Numerology The change of the year is noted by the introduction of the number 10 and, in combination with the century, we find the total number 2+0+1+0 = 3. Key themes of 3: action, manifestation, positive mind, affirmation, heat, the fire of joy or anger, resourceful, playful, hope when there is no hope, smile when there is no reason, unjustified enthusiasm, equality or victim, success or failure, respect and right value. The background presence of number 10 means that all these themes can be experienced in their extremes. The 10

A Humble Role
by MSS Guru Raj Kaur Khalsa, Vancouver, Canada Office of the Bhai Sahiba of Sikh Dharma International Spring 2010 To be a Minister of Sikh Dharma is a sublime and most humble role. As one who has been deeply involved in Training Kundalini Yoga Teachers for many years, I have often pondered the difference between the role of a Minister and the role of the Teacher. I am sure you have, too. The following thoughtful poem that appears in Victory and Virtue (Sikh Dharma manual) gives voice to this subtle, very surrendered role. It is simple and pure, and worthy of being

Minister News and Notes (Spring 2010)
by SS Har Darshan Kaur, Chapel Hill, NC (2009 Solstice Gathering Facilitator) About a dozen Ministers (and one new Khalsa) attended the 2009 Ministers’ Gathering this year at 3HO Winter Solstice. As most of you know, our Dharma is going through some big transitions and challenges at this time. Our gathering was an opportunity to “check in” with one another by sharing our truth in the moment. This process was one that was utilized in the October Khalsa Council meetings. Each person present had the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings with the person on their left, who then

Secretary of Religion Column (Spring 2010)
At a Ministers’ gathering in 1993, we went through a strategic planning process for the Ministry. The mission statement that resulted was: “To selflessly serve and uplift humanity and to perpetuate Sikh Dharma in the spirit of Cherdi Kala.” This Office has used these words as a touchstone ever since. At a Summer Solstice Ministers’ gathering a few years ago, we developed an affirmation for Ministers to say daily: “Sikh Dharma Ministers, working in unity and purity to serve humanity.” I am a firm believer in positive affirmations and visualizations, such as those found in inspirational books on prosperity (e.g.

#35 Spring 2010 Newsletter
The overall theme for 2010 is The Journey to Sahej featuring stories from the hearts of our Ministers. Sahej Pad is “that stage of ease, balance, and grace when everything fits together. We sense what serves the moment, then hold the space, allow the tools and prosperity to awaken as each moment manifests, and enjoy the play of life as the Guru works to move the consciousness.”—(p. 218, The Aquarian Teacher) The topic for the Spring newsletter is Delivering Our Natural Gifts with Ease. We asked our authors to respond to these questions: “As a Minister, how do you recognize, accept
